Pineapple Welcome Banner
Did you know that we can thank Columbus for introducing the pineapple to Europe? Pineapples were so rare, and so hard to ship home before they rotted, that they became a symbol of wealth and privilege among aristocrats. When they arrived in Colonial North America, confectioners would even rent them out to households to use as decoration before later selling them to the wealthy, who actually got to eat them. If a hostess presented a pineapple topped dish to a visitor, it was a sign that no expense was spared in welcoming the guest- thus why even today the pineapple is a symbol of hospitality.
This sweet banner of welcome continues that tradition. With dazzling shades of yellow and orange, luscious pineapple takes shape, brightening up your door or entryway. Adorable teensy, tiny little pineapples dance around the border, which is pre-cut along with the backing, batting, binding, and everything you'll need to complete the quilt, all packed into a cute pineapple bag.
Finished size is approximately 34" x 41"
